    Not the lightweight frams.

Was going to put the 806 tangerines with the light frams in the 19's, but they have loading caps and no felt for removal I basically got frustrated and quit on the whole deal.

I would rather work on my vette.

Some of these 802g's have the old style rear covers, is this indicating the type of phase plug that it has?

No, when Altec introduced the 802-8G, they used up the old style rear covers that they still had on hand. AFAIK, all 802-8G's have tangerine phase plugs......

Tangerines are more indicative to Model # than covers,parts,etc... Or any thing else. Mine (19's) have tangerines but the older style round rear covers.

Agreed, with one possible exception, and that would be the tail end of 604-8G production where a tangerine would indicate date/vintage.

AB, i dunno if it's worth parroting or not, but it seems like i read somewhere in this forum that the number of 604-8G's that received tangerines was not large. Seems like a "few hundred" was tossed around a bit.

My brother's 17's purchased new 12/79 are the only tangerine equipped 604-8G's i've ever had hands on. All the 604-8G's i've had including the pair i have now have had the steel phase plugs.

    Re: 908 0r 902?

Yes it was a very small number. The Tangerines were supposed to be one of the improvements for the all new 604-8H.Along with the new network.I think the decision was made to install them in the remaining 604G's that were already manufactured.I personally can't distinguish the Tangerine between the metal the phase plug myself. My hearing has fallen off a bit though since the 70's.Back in my teenager days, I had pretty good hearing. Now the best I can do is around 17.4 Khz.
